Terms of Service

  1. Introduction

    World Of Lim (“WOL”) Is A Digital Platform For The Lim (林) Community And Wider Public, Offering News, Events, Knowledge, Community Engagement, And Future Marketplace Features. These Terms Govern Your Access To And Use Of Our Services (The “Services”). By Using The Services, You Agree To These Terms And Our Related Policies. If You Are Using The Services On Behalf Of An Organisation, You Represent That You Are Authorised To Bind That Organisation To These Terms.

  2. Related Policies

    The following policies form part of these Terms and apply to your use of WOL:

    • Privacy Policy – how we collect, use, and safeguard data.
    • Moderation & Safety Rules – including AI pre-checks, human review, discipline system, and complaint channels.
    • Prohibited Content & Activities – including weapons, drugs, vapes, endangered goods/pets, sexual services/enhancers, illegal loans, stolen goods, and criminal activity.
    • Review Policy – reviews/replies allowed; anonymous reviews permitted with verification; removal requests reviewed by the operator.
    • Data Retention Rules – communications stored; quotation retention controlled by the user/business, not the platform.
    • Community & Listing Definitions – e.g., a 林 business must have at least one 林 founder/owner, evidenced by registration.
  3. Eligibility, Accounts, and Access

    • You must be able to form a binding contract under Singapore law to use the Services. If you are under the legal age of capacity, you may only use the Services with the consent and involvement of a parent/guardian. Responsibility rests with the adult, not the platform.
    • Account holders must provide accurate information and keep it updated. You are responsible for all activity under your account.

    Access rules:

    • Non-logged-in visitors may see previews; logged-in users have full content access.
    • Anonymous comments are permitted with verified email. Admin/Moderators can see true identity for accountability.
    • Verification proofs (e.g., business registration, utility bill, email domain) may be requested before certain features are unlocked.
  4. Community Scope and Business Definitions

    • Listings presented as 林 businesses must meet WOL’s definition: at least one founder/owner bears the 林 surname, evidenced by official company registration.
    • Non-林 businesses may participate, but may not be listed as 林 businesses.
    • Entries found to be non-林 but listed as 林 may be removed.
  5. Content Submission and Media

    • Users may submit news, events, directory information, and other content with media (images, videos, documents).
    • Limits, privileges, and media allowances vary by account type and may be changed by WOL.
    • WOL may restrict file types, compress files, and review uploads for safety.
    • Organiser/business contact details are disclosed only to registered users and subject to privacy rules.
  6. Moderation, Safety, and Enforcement

    • All submissions are subject to AI pre-checks and human review.
    • Harmful or disallowed content will be blocked.
    • Prohibited items and activities include but are not limited to: weapons, drugs, vapes, endangered goods/pets, sexual services/enhancers, illegal loans, stolen goods, and criminal activity.
    • WOL may suspend or ban accounts, remove content, or cooperate with authorities where required.
    • Users can report harmful or suspicious behaviour. WOL provides public complaint channels for accountability.
  7. Reviews and Feedback

    • Reviews may include star ratings, text, and media.
    • Businesses may reply to reviews.
    • Anonymous reviews are permitted for verified users.
    • Removal requests will be considered; final decision rests with the platform operator.
  8. Content Removal Requests

    • Users may request removal or correction of content (e.g., listings, profiles, reviews) if they believe it is inaccurate.
    • Requests must include documented proof, showing:
      1. The specific information that is inaccurate.
      2. Evidence supporting the inaccuracy.
      3. Proof that the requester has already asked all other public sources/directories/portals to remove the same information.
    • WOL reserves the right to decline removal if:

      - Proof is insufficient.

      - The information is accurate to the best of our knowledge.

      - The data remains available publicly from other legitimate sources.

    • Final decisions rest with the operator.
  9. Marketplace and Transactions (Future Features)

    When marketplace features (e.g., RFQs, buyer–seller chat, checkout) are launched:

    • Buyers may interact via safe channels, with masking for personal information.
    • Sellers are legally responsible for their listings and must comply with relevant laws.
    • WOL is not a party to buyer–seller contracts and does not guarantee product quality, legality, delivery, or payment.
    • Disputes between buyers and sellers must be resolved privately or with authorities. WOL may provide evidence logs when legally required.
    • Fees, commissions, or taxes will be disclosed at purchase. Refunds follow posted policies.
  10. User Conduct and Acceptable Use

    You agree not to:

    • Violate laws, infringe rights, or breach these Terms.
    • Submit unlawful, harmful, or deceptive content.
    • Post or trade in prohibited items or services.
    • Interfere with WOL operations or other users’ use of Services.
    • Harvest or misuse personal data.
    • Abuse communication channels for spam or harassment.
  11. Intellectual Property

    • Your content: You retain ownership of what you submit. By submitting, you grant WOL a licence to host, store, reproduce, display, distribute, and adapt your content as needed to operate and improve Services.
    • Our content: WOL’s platform, design, software, trademarks, and materials are protected by law. You may not copy, modify, or reverse-engineer them without permission.
  12. Privacy and Data Retention

    • WOL processes personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
    • Communications may be stored; quotations are retained according to the business/user, not WOL.
  13. Suspension and Termination

    • WOL may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these Terms, law, or community rules.
    • Upon termination, rights and licences granted to you end, but obligations such as indemnities, IP protection, and liability limitations continue.
  14. Disclaimers

    • Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” WOL disclaims all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for purpose, and non-infringement.
    • WOL is not liable for the accuracy, legality, or safety of user-generated content.
    • For marketplace features, WOL is not liable for user contracts, products, or third-party acts.
  15. Limitation of Liability

    To the maximum extent permitted by law:

    • WOL is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.
    • WOL’s aggregate liability to any user will not exceed SGD 20.
  16. Indemnity

    You agree to indemnify and hold harmless WOL, its directors, employees, advisors, and moderators from claims, losses, or costs arising from:

    • Your use of the Services.
    • Your submitted content.
    • Your breach of these Terms or law.
    • Your violation of others’ rights.
  17. Changes to the Services and Terms

    WOL may modify Services and update these Terms from time to time.

    • If changes are material, WOL will provide notice (via Services or email).
    • Continued use after changes take effect means acceptance.
  18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

    • These Terms are governed by Singapore law.
    • You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of Singapore courts. User-to-user disputes (e.g., marketplace issues) must be resolved privately or via authorities.
